Review: Barbie Forest Red

My first red lenses. Are they as interesting on green eyes?

I have always been curious about red lenses. They seem fun and unique, but I always thought they’d be hard to pull off.

I got a pair from Uniqso, after months and months of eyeing them. Barbie Forest Red were the pair I chose, as I loved the pattern on them. They seemed more “natural”, as far as red lenses go, but the diameter was big enough to still have some impact.

By the way, I 100% recommend Uniqso! The packaging was adorable, the shipping fast, and I received exactly what I ordered (which is surprisingly rare lately with some online circle lens companies). They even included a little Christmas card for me in my package, and a Q-tip to remove the lenses from the vials!

When I put them in, I was a bit nervous, as I am new to the Barbie line. These were my first Barbie lenses, and I was pleasantly surprised by how comfortable they are.

Being 15mm lenses, they are hugely enlarging. The lack of a deep limbal ring keeps them sparkly, though, and the large pupil hole allows my natural color to peek through, creating a startling and creepy gradient.

The red on these is a true, deep crimson, with black streaks as dark as dried blood.

I believe these would make beautiful Gothic Lolita lenses. The color is even visible in low light or from the side, allowing for a very strong look. When you peek sideways, they give a very slinky and unnerving look, but from straight on, they are very cute!

To show how easily these can be pulled off, I did not wear false eyelashes. These are not as enlarging as the 15mm might indicate. They are large, but not giving an alien look.

That pretty hairpin is a Christmas gift from my gorgeous friend Dianne. I just had to show it off! She made it herself- she is so talented!

On to the ratings!

Enlargement: 10/10 (these are the biggest diameter out there)
Pigmentation: 10/10 (deep red is not a subtle shade)
Comfort: 10/10 (very comfortable)
Value: 10/10 (around $25 for one year of use)
